Video Poker
Video poker is a simple, but at the same time ingenious casino game . And it also has an impressive story. Video poker machines were originally developed in the 1970s . The poker tables were badly discredited back then, so nobody wanted to be seen there. The video poker machines developed into the optimal alternative. These devices are now almost as popular as they were 50 years ago - only in significantly more modern versions.
Video poker game variants
Over the years, more and more video poker game variants have emerged. These often work according to an identical principle and with only small changes. We have briefly explained the most popular game variants below:
Jacks or Better
Jacks or Better is the most popular variant of this game. As the name suggests, players need at least one hand made up of two jacks, i.e. two jacks, in order to win . The other payouts are according to regular poker with the royal flush as the highest hand. In the event of a win, this pays out 250 times the stake.
Tens or Better
Tens or Better works in a similar way to Jacks or Better. The biggest difference: Two tens or a better pair are enough for a win . However, this advantage also has its price. Compared to Jacks or Better, the flush, four of a kind and the full house bring in lower profits.
Aces and Faces
Aces and faces - this is how aces and faces are translated into German. Why? Because the aces and face cards are of particular importance here. Quads pay really good winnings, but they have to be made up of aces or face cards. The ace four of a kind pays the highest winnings.
All American Video Poker
In All American Video Poker, the payouts are much more jumbled than in other game variants. Three of a kind, a pair and the royal flush remain the same, all other payouts are changed. A four of a kind, a flush, a straight or a straight flush has significantly higher wins than a Jacks or Better. With full house and three of a kind, the winnings are slightly smaller.
Double Bonus Poker
In Double Bonus Poker, all those who speculate on particularly strong hands will get their money's worth . The classic Jacks or Better is also played in this variant of the game. However, the quadruplets bring in significantly larger profits. With Jacks or Better, the quads pay 25 times the round stake, with Double Bonus Poker that's up to 160 times for a quads aces. Again, however, other hands are reduced at the expense of these payouts.
Double Joker Poker
Double Joker Poker is preferred by many beginners. The name says it all , because the game also features two bonus jokers in addition to the regular playing cards. These replace missing cards in a winning hand and thus significantly increase the players' chances. The price for this: A generally significantly lower payout for all hands than with Jacks or Better.
